It’s February, so that means we’re off to the big dance and this year’s Super Bowl looks like being an absolute ripper! So, who better than your good mate Joe Fortune to give you the answers to all the questions you have ahead of watching Super Bowl LIX in Australia.
What time is Super Bowl 2025?
This year’s Super Bowl is on Monday 10th February 2025, with kick off planned for 10:30am AEDT which as you know covers Hobart, Sydney, Melbourne, and Canberra. In Adelaide the game will get underway at 10am, Brisbane at 9:30am, Darwin at 9am and Perth 7:30am. Just quietly with so much pre-match entertainment and showbiz stuff I don’t see the game starting on time…
Where is the Super Bowl being Played?
This year’s NFL showpiece is being played at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. For those wanting the exact address it is 1500 Sugar Bowl Drive, and it is home to the American Football team, the New Orleans Saints.
Who is in Super Bowl LIX?

Just like the Penrith Panthers are dominating in the NRL these days, the same can be said for the Kansas City Chiefs who are trying to become the first team in history to win three Super Bowls in a row. In their way are the Philadelphia Eagles, who are gunning for glory again having last won it in 2018. You probably don’t need me to remind you that these two sides have some recent history as they battled it out just two years ago in Arizona when Kansas City defeated Philadelphia 38-35 in Super Bowl LVII.
Super Bowl Stats
This year’s Super Bowl has every chance of being a classic and they’ll be plenty of hype in the build-up and rightly so as Kansas City is looking to make history with a three-peat. But it goes without saying that it won’t be easy as in their way are the Philadelphia Eagles. The runners-up from two years ago are in great form after an impressive 55-23 win over the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship. With both sides having had strong regular season form with The Chiefs claiming 15 wins and 2 losses and The Eagles with 14 victories and 3 defeats it could come down to one play to decide who will be lifting the Lombardi Trophy.
Philadelphia’s offence, led by quarterback Jalen Hurts and the impressive Saquon Barkley looks formidable. Barkley was incredible in the NFC Championship, rushing for about 120 yards and scoring a couple of touchdowns as Jalen Hurts touched over three times. The Chiefs have reached the final in no small part thanks to Patrick Mahomes. The quarterback played a massive part as his Kansas City narrowly defeated The Buffalo Bills 32-29 in the AFC Championship. Mahomes scored two touchdowns and made a few important passes, whilst his defence came to the party and stopped Buffalo’s quarterback Josh Allen on a couple of fourth downs.
The Eagles have the league’s best defence, and it will be needed if Philadelphia is going to bring home the choccies. This promises to be a battle between both quarterbacks, and I reckon that the result will be decided on how the Eagles go at stopping Mahomes. With plenty of experience and confidence when playing finals football, it is no wonder that The Chiefs are slight favourites to win.
Are there any Aussie Players in the Super Bowl?
Australian Jordan Mailata will be playing in Super Bowl 59. He is part of the Eagles’ offensive line and no doubt that will mean for those of us who don’t go for the Chiefs will have a good reason to support Philadelphia to win!
Which Platforms are Showing this Year’s Super Bowl?
The Super Bowl is available on the streaming service KAYO, but I think I’ll be watching the free-to-air coverage on the 7 Network which is also bloody good. The game is live on Channel 7HD, with loads of pre-game build up available on 7Mate and the 7plus App.
Aussie Venues to Watch the Super Bowl

If you’ve got the morning off work and aren’t pulling a sickie watching the Super Bowl at home, then I’ve got a few spots which are worth popping into around Australia, there’s a good chance you’ll also be able to grab a couple of cold ones too!
First up Sydney, there’s always plenty of screens and people creating a good atmosphere at the Star Casino. But if you’re in the CBD then I’d suggest heading to the Hotel CBD on York Street. With American-style BBQ food and the game being shown on every floor this joint is where you should head to.
For those of you in Melbourne, why not head to Caulfield Racecourse to watch this year’s Super Bowl? Tickets are just $20 and with bottles of bud, brekkie rolls, large screens, and bourbon flowing it will be a great way to spend your Monday morning. The front lawn will be made into a simulated NFL field so you’re in for a bloody good NFL experience without needing to fly to the USA!
In Adelaide there’s a cracking Super Bowl experience being offered at The Wellington Hotel in North Adelaide. Here you can watch Super Bowl 59 live and loud on the big screen and its free entry. There’ll also be plenty of American beer specials throughout the game, so you won’t get thirsty!
In Darwin why not take in The Chiefs v The Eagles game at Silks in Fannie Bay? A great venue for watching sport and with daily specials on food and drink it gets my tick of approval to visit on Monday morning.
If you’re in Brisbane, then you should check out Fat Angel Sports Bar for the ultimate Super Bowl LIX experience. This venue has eight screens and one bloody massive, big screen, so there’s no such thing as a bad seat in this house. Here you can enjoy a range of American beers and Aussie favourites while tucking into some great tucker.
Finding yourself in Hobart on Super Bowl Monday… then give The Telegraph Hotel a visit. Best book early as spaces can be limited. With pizzas and jugs of cold beer being served, the Super Bowl will be shown on the ground floor & rooftop screens.
Sports fans in Canberra, I reckon you’ll go well watching the Super Bowl at Bleachers, Civic
This venue is known for showing all the big games, their Super Bowl event is set to be a showstopper as they’ve partnered up with a brewery and will be serving up their famous burgers alongside cold beers. Things kick off at 9am, again it is worth booking in advance to get a good seat as spaces are limited.
It’s Touchdown in Perth. The biggest Super Bowl Party is at Optus Stadium. Get a few mates or colleagues and enjoy an all-inclusive American-inspired food and beverage package whilst catching the game and half-time show on the Sports Lounge screens and the stadium’s super screens. There’s also a live DJ, roaming photobooth, and plenty more going on so it sounds like it should be a top morning albeit starting at 7am…
Betting on the Super Bowl
For those of you who might look to have a bet on this year’s Super Bowl the early markets had Kansas City as $1.80 favourites with Philadelphia at $2.05. The handicap, or line, as some of you might know it as, was set at -1.5 for The Chiefs, which means that if you have a bet on them they’ll need to win by 2 or more points, but the odds are better at $1.90. For those of you interested in total points for the game, that currently is at 49.5 so if you think there’s going to be lots of touchdowns then you’ll be betting on 50 points or more being scored and this pays $1.95. Keep an eye out on the odds, handicap and total markets as they will change the closer we get to match day.
For those of you who can’t wait until Monday, or just want to get into Super Bowl LIX fever, should check out our American Football themed pokie Golden End Zone!
Who is Performing in the Super Bowl Half-Time Show?
First up, just to let you know that the American national anthem, which is performed before the game starts, is being sung by Jon Batiste. Then in this year’s half-time show you can look forward to watching American hip-hop artist Kendrick Lamar along with his special guest SZA. Also, whilst Taylor Swift isn’t going to be on stage I reckon you’ll be seeing a lot of her during the coverage as she will be there supporting her bloke Travis Kelce who plays for Kansas City as a tight end.
